The Reality
Fruitful long-term ministry in Asia requires innovative approaches that are born out of humble observation, intentional listening, and targeted prayer. This internship is an immersive learning lab designed to break you out of your comfort zone, stretch your theology, and show you what it really takes to live, pray, and work in creative-access contexts.
What You Might Actually Do
Expect fluidity: plans change, security adapts, and remote travel shifts. Adaptability is a core ministry skill here.
- Louisville Refugee & Translation Focus (1 Week): Partner with East African refugee communities in Bible translation, literacy, and Scripture engagement. (Since security risks limit student access to these specific models in Asia right now, this week offers crucial hands-on exposure in a secure US setting).
- Frontline Recovery Immersion: Stay in a residential recovery community alongside locals whose lives have been transformed by Jesus. You’ll see firsthand how faith, deep community, and Spirit-led prayer bring healing from addiction.
- Targeted Prayer Walking: Navigate daily routines in Asia (local markets, dining, language acquisition) while conducting strategic prayer walks over neighborhood blocks, urban centers, and campuses.
- Remote Treks & Scripture Impact: Travel alongside locals into urban hubs and remote villages to see how important heart-language Bible translation really is.
- Creative Access Exploration: Through prayer, conversation, and possibly shadowing, explore with us how believers can leverage business, healthcare, and education as low-profile, sustainable platforms for Kingdom work.
Who This Is For
- Required Mindset: Culturally humble, comfortable with theological diversity, eager to listen before trying to “fix,” and highly adaptable when plans change.
- Target Majors: Business, Intercultural Studies, Linguistics, Healthcare, or Education (Minimum 2 years completed). Business majors are especially encouraged to apply as we expand sustainable platform models.
- Non-Negotiables: High security awareness, completion of safety briefings and required readings, and a genuine interest in long-term service in Asia.
