What You Might Actually Do
Honestly, the work here requires high ambiguity tolerance. Success is measured by relational faithfulness to the process, not a final project output.
- Language Acquisition & Incarnational Living: Practice living as a learner by navigating daily rhythms, learning cultural nuances and local language, and building slow, organic relationships over tea and shared meals without pushing a forced agenda.
- Literacy & Linguistics: Gather local language data, assist with preliminary linguistic analysis, and help facilitate literacy workshops.
- Operational Support: Serve long-term workers and partner ministries through practical assistance, which may include occasional manual labor, office admin, or helping keep local team operations running smoothly.
- Prayer As the Strategy: Conduct targeted prayer walks across local communities and learn how field partners strategically cooperate behind the scenes.
- Bible Translation Observation: Where appropriate, observe translation processes or consultant checks to see how translating Scripture is carefully done in restricted settings.
Who This Is For
- Required Mindset: Deeply comfortable with delayed gratification, content without tangible “deliverables,” high tolerance for changing plans, and eager to serve quietly through relational presence.
- Target Majors: Linguistics, Intercultural Studies, Business, Education, or General Humanities (Minimum 2 years completed).
